Software Startup
The Windows login and password is usually set up by your IT department. If you are using an AMS machine that we sent to you, it was most likely set up with an Administrator login of “administrator” and no password. Your IT department usually changes this for security purposes. For help with your Windows password, please speak to your IT department as we are unable to provide a backdoor password for Windows.
AMS also requires a password for certain functions. For more information on your AMS password, see the Setup Menu section.
When AMS is started, it verifies that the archive database can be located. This message at startup indicates that one of the following has occurred:

What does “Cannot Find Original Table” mean?
If your configuration table is missing, you'll see the following message:

When AMS is started, it verifies that the configuration file is in the correct format. If it is not, AMS rebuilds the configuration file and all settings are reset to the defaults. If this occurs, you must reset the AMS setup for your location including remapping the server drive before resuming work in AMS.
What does “Single User Mode
Active” mean?
When AMS is started, it verifies that the shared database on the server can be accessed if this machine is setup as a workstation. You must correct this problem before continuing to work in AMS. This warning message is typically caused by one of the following:
What does “Archive Files In
Use” mean?
This message is displayed under the AMS logo when the archive database is active. This occurs when you select the Data – Archive – Activate Archive function. While this message is displayed, you may search or print reports using your archive data. You may not change any of the archive data. Selecting any function that changes data (i.e., Edit) automatically closes the archive database. You can also close this function by selecting the Data – Archive – Deactivate Archive function.
